Clara L. Garwood, 97, formerly of Iowa City, died Friday, January 16, 2009
at the Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until services at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences

Clara Lindemann Garwood was born August 28, 1911, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Louisa (Hahn) Lindemann. She attended rural country school and graduated from University High School in Iowa City. On
September 1, 1931, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Garwood in Rock Island, IL. For many years she worked at Currier Hall of the University of Iowa. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliary of
the Eagles, Carnation Rebekah Lodge, Do-Si-Do and Ocean Waves square dancing clubs.
Her family includes her two children, John E. Garwood and his wife, Joy of Gettysburg, PA; and Marilyn Garwood Marsh and her husband, Alan of Kirkland, WA; four grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Marsh, and Stephen and Michael
Garwood, and four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Susan, and Sara Garwood and Kayla Leach.
Her parents, husband Edward, and two brothers, Gus and John Lindemann, preceded Clara in death.
